automatic update of clients stopped working

Automatic client version update stopped working in recent versions (July-August 2021?).
We get an error message "File download failed" in the client.
Hansa.log:
2021-09-09 15:01:47 8.5 2021-07-30 (build 85390305)
2021-09-09 15:01:50 M4status no free slots / not same db / not same protocol
2021-09-09 15:01:52 Close database

I tried to disable protocol filtering/add application exceptions in ESET Internet security, but it did not help.
Is it a bug?
