I have tried to send an email via Mail>>operations>>send email and it crashed the server. I did not happen once again (yet).
We use an external gw for emails, though external gw does not start on the linux server (it starts on the windows). Error on linux is 2017-03-09 13:54:25 database cache may be max 80% of physical RAM (physical RAM is: 0bytes, attempted to use: 100000bytes for DB cache)


What could be the reason? Here is an excerpt from the log:

We cannot repeat this issue, as well as the issue (which happened in v. 8.2) when the email sent to the customer (saved in the Email queue) was different than that saved in the user's mailbox when using "Send email". Both of these happened only once.

GATE is the external gateway user, however the external gateway cannot be run on the linux machine as said previously. In this case I ran the external gateway on the windows machine with the server on the linux. Disabling the external gw via system>>settings>>optional features and sending the same email with an internal gateway worked with no crash. Any solutions for this?
