Encryption when importing files

A customer has asked, when importing text files into Standard ERP, are they encrypted as they are uploaded? They are worried about cloud hosting because of the confidential information they are importing.

Hello Paul,

There are 2 solutions for your question.
It cold be possible to send (upload) files with https and not the normal webport.
Then the other one is to import it from the server with hal, then nothing is sent through any unsecure line or do vpn for the hansa ip/ports true, without ipv6 of course. Direct Access does not work.

Hi Hector

I'm a little confused by your answer. What does "Direct Access does not work" mean? My question relates to selecting Routines > Imports > Name of import, and then selecting a file to import into SERP. For example, Sales Ledger > Routines > Imports > Banking File. The file being uploaded will be a plain text file, so is the file encrypted as it uploads into SERP or does it remain unchanged?

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

To answer your question of if the file is encrypted as it up loaded or remains unchanged. The answer is the latter.
It would remain unchanged.

Thanks Hector. This represents a security risk to companies importing confidential data into Standard ERP when their server is in the cloud. Does anyone have any ideas on encrypting the data but allowing SERP to read it?

Hi Paul! The file is not touched but the communication channel is encrypted. All communications between SERP and SERP server are encrypted + we use additionally TLS 1.2 protocol. Hope this helps to answer your question.

Thanks!
Omar

Hi, No changes should have been made that would increase client's HDB file. Please try to delete HANSA.HDB from client folder and reconnect to server and check if it will grow to 30MB again. ...
