App Message on new version
10-30-25
Operating system: Windows
Hi there,
We are looking at a new version for our customers – version 2025-09-08. We have setup a test server and then login to this from a client machine, these are Windows 11 client machines.
When we login from the client we are getting a message that says “your client is downloading components” but it never completes. We also get a message that says “This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page”.

We’ve tried a proper client installation using the MSI and then tried associating the executable file with the SERP App but we cannot do this as it doesn’t seem to allow it.
On previous versions we have just copied an installation folder from one machine to another without the need for a “proper installation”. We would like to do the same on this new version.
Can you tell us how to stop these 2 messages from popping up everyday when we open this new version of Standard ERP please, preferably without having to go through an MSI installation on every client machine.

Thanks

Best wishes

Dave

Hi again, do we know what it's trying to download, if we download it, it may make the message go away?

Thanks

These components are for the notification system inside standard erp ( for messages and such, for example Meet )

Hi Bror-Erik,

Thanks for your reply.

We've done further testing and we've discovered that it is only my Windows 11 laptop that has this message about downloading components. Other colleagues, also on Windows 11 do not have these messages. I'm therefore thinking that it is something to do specifically with my laptop.
I've tried newer versions 2026-01-26 and I'm getting the same messages. It's only the first time I open SERP each day that I get the messages about downloading components but it happens every day and it's annoying. Plus, we could have customers who this happens to.
How can I stop this from happening? Someone mentioned updating my windows registry. I'm naturally a little nervous about doing this. Do you have clear, concise instructions how to stop this message from happening please?

Thanks

Best wishes

Good Morning,

I have finally managed to update my windows registry – I needed to tweak the REG ADD commands to update my registry. The amended commands I got to work are as follows:

REG ADD "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\hansa" /f /t REG_SZ /v "exe" /d "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Hansaworld\helper\Standard ERP.exe"
REG ADD "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\hansa\shell\open\command" /ve /d "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Hansaworld\helper\Standard ERP.exe" /f
REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\hansa" /f /t REG_SZ /v "exe" /d "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Hansaworld\helper\Standard ERP.exe
REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\hansa\shell\open\command" /ve /d "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Hansaworld\helper\Standard ERP.exe" /f

I will attach images of how my registry appears for these entries.

However, I’m still getting the downloading components message, even after rebooting my laptop – see screenshot below – I’m getting this on multiple clients to different servers, one to our play server and one to an AWS server. It appears after I login but only seems to appear once per day for each installation but it appears every day and it’s annoying. If I delete the local Hansa.HDB file and re-connect to the same server then the message pops up again the same day so it seems like it’s something being stored in the local HDB file to only have the message once per day. However, other windows 11 laptops don’t get it, just mine and a customer so far – other colleagues windows 11 laptops don’t get the downloading components message.

Do you have any ideas of what I can do next in an attempt to stop this message from popping up every day please?

Thanks

Best wishes

Dave

PS I don't appear to be able to upload an image here of my registry.
