Controlling the output of records copied from browse windows

Operating system: Windows
It's possible to highlight one or more records in a browse window, copy, go into Excel/text editor and paste. This pastes some, but not always all, fields from these records, including rows if the records have them.

How is it defined which fields are included in this output, in both standard and custom registers? Is it possible, with HAL, to change this behaviour?
