we added such functionality for customer. On GR you registered both serialnr and the UDI number. We then stored the UDI against the Item/serialnr in a history register. Could then be printed on documents etc.

Sounds like you're talking about REST API. And that your are overwriting data with older values if B managed to read record before A finished to update it. Classic conflict resolution ...
