can sending email crash the 8.3 server

I could not start the 8.3 server until I have disabled (put --noemail in the parameters.txt and/or command line) sending out emails. During the server startup, the server started to send emails and crashed after a few emails were tried to send.

The customer has several emails with incorrectly formed email adresses.
Can it happen because of the incorrectly formed email adresses or there should be another reason?
in 8.2 it did not crash.

I have experienced this in 8.1 and 8.2. It seems the server cannot cope with trying to re-send all these e-mails.
