Timed Backup running in background in 8.1

In 8.1, the timed backup runs in the background, allowing users to continue using the system while the backup is running. Is it possible to switch off this feature? The issue we have is that the backup can take several hours to complete, and causes the system to run slowly in the morning.

Hello!

In 8.4 we have the option to mange the timed backup under Technics module>>Setting Timed Operations.
If these settings are not available in version 8.1, I would recommend updating the system among other reasons.

Yes this setting has been there for years but it doesn't have anything to allow users to continue using the software whilst the backup is running.

Hello Paul,

If you have Data security plan level 1 or 2, then you cannot use this functionality and by default is turned off.
If you have Data security plan level 3 or 4, then this functionality is by default turned on and currently is not possible to turn it off from interface.

We are working on improving this functionality...

Thanks Dejan. When I asked this question, data security plans did not exist. It seems that "background backup" was accidentally added and set by default in 8.1, but it has reverted back to normal behaviour in versions since then.
