Hey yes it can, you can use the Purchase Items register. Here is some information on how its used

You can have one item or SKU linked to many suppliers and you can store the suppliers internal code for that SKU so the system knows that if you were to enter the suppliers code for that SKU in an item matrix, it will automatically link :)
