I have always thought that blankval is not zero, but I can see the following results
2018-05-21 12:24:46 AK is blank 0.00

of

if (SMrw.DebVal2==blankval) then begin
LogText(0,"is blank " & SMrw.DebVal2);


so, zero val is the blankval?

I think blankval = 0, but 0 <> blankval, if that helps?
