I have already reported a bug General>>it is possible to delete HANSA.HDB when the server is running
but does it depend on something (service packs or smth)?

I also had an accident today upgrading to the new version: after stopping the windows service, HANSA.HDB dissappeared (Windows server 2012R2).
Probably it is a related issue.

Some ideas to make it safer:
When we run the server executable with --backup parameter it MUST NOT create a new HANSA.HDB and show a warning that HANSA.HDB is missing, as it seems it has happended in this case.
If HANSA.HDB is missing, then probably we can recover it with some undelete utility.

This happenned (creating of a new DB, importing defaults and then making a backup) when running with --backup:

Hi Aldevinas,

Thank you for the report. This is not however, a bug but a wish as this would be a new feature. I will create a wish based on the report.

It's possible at the moment to delete the HDB when server is running. If you're trying to delete the HDB from Mystandard you'll get a warning message, but it's still possible.

IMHO, "it is possible to delete HANSA.HDB when the server is running" is a bug (a possibility to loose entire database is a bug) with the crash level severity.
I have reported a wish General>>running with --backup should not create a new HANSA.HDB
