SERP cannot print to a NEW HP Printer under Windows 7 Pro

Hi,

SERP running under Windows and my client purchased a new printer. HP LaserJet.

All the application on the problem system can print to the printer other than SERP. All Windows 10 machines with SERP are working with this printer.

We had to edit the printer name just to get SERP of save the printer in the form definition under Windows 7 Pro but it will not print to the new printer.

Using an older printer on the same machine works. Connecting remotely and trying to print to a older remote printer via the remote software works.

Local printing to this NEW HP LaserJet just will not work.

Has anyone seen this and understands how to fix it.

We will try upgrading the client to the latest versions of SERP today (8.3 August 31, 2017) hoping this will help.

Thank in advance for any pointers.

FOLLOW UP TO ISSUE

So the client did not realize that all Windows 10 system were malfunctioning with this new printer.

It is now clear that the Windows client for SERP is not compliant with Microsoft's operating system.

We have since done the following.

1) Edit the name of the driver, SERP seems to not be able to save a long device name when you attempt to set up the default printer for a from. It simply ignore the setting.

2) Turned on printer dialogue.

The user can now print the form by clicking okay and with the printer now defaulting they have just one extra click to do in order to print the Internal Order.

Again, these are Windows 10 systems. We have a lack of support for long printer names and we cannot route print jobs directly to the printer.

Work around(ish), rename printer driver and use printer dialogue.

Please let us know if SERP catches up to Microsoft.

Thanks,

Wayne
