Rest API - problem accessing custom register on Linux

Hi

I have a strange problem with a customer's installation.
I can not access custom registers through Rest API.

I can access standard registers, so I know everything is set up correctly.
I can access custom blocks.
I just can't access custom registers - I get an empty reply if I specify a valid register, and an error if I specify an invalid one.

To make things stranger, I can access the custom registers if I set the whole thing up on OS X

This is on 8.5 2018-12-07

Has anyone experienced this, or has any idea how to resolve it?

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Hope you are doing well.

Would you mind to be a bit more precise in what environment he is having a problem.
As I understood it works fine in OS X, but where does it not work?

Thanks and regards,

Hello and thank you for reaching out to us with your enquiry.
I’d be happy to help but I need more details:
Server, kind of connection (ssh or trough the machine terminal), what’s the command you send, are you sure all is correctly set up in your user and access rights?

Looking forward to your reply

The server is running on Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
SSH connection through Terminal

Yes, I am sure it is set up correctly, because, as I said, I can get information from all standard registers and blocks and all customised blocks, but no custom registers.

curl http://127.0.0.1/api/1/CountryVc returns the complete register
curl http://127.0.0.1/api/1/SomeCustomVc returns nothing (blank....0 bytes)

And yes, I have access to SomeCustomVc if I log in

Hello David and thank you for the additional details.
As I understood this behaviour is not repeatable if both server and client are on MacOs and is repeatable if the server is Linux.
Is this statement correct?

Not repeatable on OS X server, no.

There are no Clients - we are talking about API.

Well the client is useless for RestAPI calls, but still necessary to set the environment up.
Any way this is definitively a bug. I will update you with further informations.

Best regards.

I can get my custom register on CentOS Linux 7.5.1804 and on Windows 10. Just tested with version 8.5 2019-03-22 (build 85290119).
I am using normal OAuth 2.0 authentication, not curl on the command line.

Hi Aldevinas

This could be an Oauth issue. I would see if you have the same issue with http login via the api. i.e username and password

Thanks Sanjay.

Aldevinas,

Did you have the same issue with http login?

I don't know what is the "http login", never used if I understand it right.
