Is there ss there a way to import a long string (~400 chars) from a TAB separated text file?
This long string is a column in the text file.

BTW: It would be very nice to have ASCIIZ strings in hal, not limited to 255 chars.

I believe this is difficult, if not impossible. The problem, as you've probably found, is that all the C functions you need (GetTabTextFromArea etc.) only support 255 characters.

Actually it seems I can import one column having more than 255 chars like this.

global
procedure ImportTestIn(record RcVc RepSpec)
begin
string 255 tstr;
record NotepadVc Noter;

tstr=ImportField;
tstr=ImportField;
if(ImportIntoText(Noter)) then begin end;
tstr=ImportField;
while (NextImportLine(false)) begin

end;
StopAlert("tstr=" & tstr);
OpenWindow("NotepadDClass",1,0,"","",Noter);
end;
